Acute Respiratory Care Service Space.

(1)

Beds in the acute respiratory care service shall be included in the total licensed bed capacity of the hospital.

(2)

Each bed area shall contain at least 12.2 square meters (132 square feet) of floor space with no dimension less than 3.3 meters (11 feet) and with 1.2 meters (4 feet) of clearance at both sides and at the foot of the bed with a minimum of 2.4 meters (8 feet) between beds.

(3)

1.2 meters (4 feet) of floor space shall be provided around nurses' desks and utility areas.

(4)

All beds shall be placed in relation to the nurses' station or work area to obtain maximum observation of the patients.
