§ 100152.01. Stroke Referring Hospital.
(a)
Eligibility. Any licensed general acute care hospital (GACH) within a local EMS system having an approved stroke critical care system that receives patients transported through the 911 emergency response system and that has not been otherwise designated as a stroke center pursuant to subarticle 2 of this article is a stroke referring hospital. All stroke referring hospitals shall meet the requirements of this section.
(b)
Requirements.
(1)
Stroke Treatment and Operations. The GACH shall:
(A)
Have a documented transfer process utilizing IFT agreements or protocols;
(B)
Collaborate and coordinate with the LEMSA to develop an EMS system notification process for when stroke services are unavailable and shall follow the LEMSA's diversion policy or protocol.
(2)
Data Collection, QI, and Evaluation. EMS receiving GACHs under this section are subject to the requirements of Article 5 of this subchapter.
(3)
Additional Requirements. A LEMSA medical director may establish requirements for EMS receiving GACHs in addition to those required under this section.
