§ 100143.03. Designated GACH Quality Improvement and Evaluation Requirements.

(a)

Trauma Center Performance Improvement and Patient Safety. Trauma centers, pediatric trauma receiving centers, and trauma receiving hospitals of all levels shall have a Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) program and trauma care quality improvement process that is independent of, but reports to, the general acute care hospital's (GACH's) general performance or QI program, in accordance with Sections 100141.01, 100141.02, and 100141.03 of this subchapter.

(b)

All trauma centers, pediatric trauma receiving centers, and trauma receiving hospitals shall have a process for reviewing trauma care and providing feedback to:

(1)

The LEMSA, related to the accuracy of triage, re-triage, and provision of care; and

(2)

Referring providers, related to the triage, re-triage, care and outcomes of referred patients and any potential opportunities for improvement in initial care.
