§ 100138.07. Trauma Receiving Hospital. “Trauma receiving hospital” means a licensed general acute care hospital (GACH) with a special permit for basic or comprehensive emergency service, which is not currently verified as a trauma center by the American College of Surgeons, but which has been formally assigned a role in the trauma care system by the local emergency services agency (LEMSA), including as set forth in Section 100141.01 of this subchapter. In rural areas, the LEMSA may approve GACHs to receive patients requiring emergency medical care services when verified trauma centers are not reasonably accessible. Final trauma destination decisions are determined by the LEMSA Medical Director based on the level of trauma services available.
